Presenting My Images.

The concept of having an endless pot of money to spend on exhibiting my work was very exciting idea and I had plenty of them.
The eight final images that I had chosen related to water in vast spaces, so I came up with the Idea of exhibiting them in a huge white walled room, these white walls will give emphasis to my images giving the viewer direct and unbroken vision to the viewer allowing them to be entranced with the images enabling them to be at one with the images.
My images will be directly printed onto the white walls, no borders, lines, hangings or frames so not to distract the viewers eyes.
The room itself is to be in the Guggenheim Museum in new York, I fell in love with this building on a Trip to New York where I viewed a number of works from Picasso, Monet, Julie Mehretu, Andy Warhol and John Cage, and the inside of the building is very suited to the modern contemporary look that I am looking to portray.
The floor in the gallery will be an interactive floor made of glass and will simulate walking along a coastline this itself will be one of my images made into a stop frame, showing a moving tide.
The gallery itself will be brightly lit so not to create any shadows or reflections onto the images and a slight breeze will be apparent.
I would advertise this on my own website and on the Museums website and would make documentation such as brochure leaflets and magazines adverts available and I would organise a Private viewing to chosen People.
I would then open the gallery to the general public.

Evaluation and Final edits

I have been mulling over which images to present as my final peices, this has been hard as I found that I had lots of good pictures all within my theme of water but only some could be put together as a series.
My choice was Landscape and my theme was Water.
At the start my Idea was to take some images in various locations such as seascapes, rivers, waterfalls, lakes and ponds of which I have taken some images but few matched with lighting, contrast and composition,as I went along my idea of what to shoot changed, I did try to go out around the same time for walks and shoot them but the light was different in so many places and some images showed little resemblance,so It was later on through the course that I decided to take a series of shots in one place on a similar subject and area to see if I could come up with a good series. This did seem to work but they are of the same place and I would have been happier if they were of different places however the images I had would not have looked right together and would have looked too individual.
Before going on any shoot I would plan in advance where I would be going and what I would be going for and generally this would happen, however I can get distracted and I would take images of various objects and scenes around me.I thought about the time of day it was and tried to contemplate the weather situation so I could think about the sunlight and how much time I would have.
I would take my camera -Cannon1000D, a fully charged battery, empty or a memory card with lots of space on it and the Tripod, however I did forget this on one occassion and was dissapointed!
Whilst out taking photographs to begin with it was trial and error, trying to remember what I had been taught in lesson, rembering the rule of thirds, composition and of course how to use my camera in Manual mode, but the more I took photographs in the various places the more I became accustomed to looking at what was going on around me,judging the light, compostion and getting to know my camera.
Along the way I have been inspired by many Photographers one was Giles Norman
Giles norman lives in kinsale, co.cork born in 1961 to Belgian and English parents, Giles has lived in kinsale since 1976.
While completing his formal schooling, a chance request to photograph a school project provided him with his first real opportunity to use a camera. this experience proved to be a very positive one and in 1979, he received his first camera for his 18th birthday. by 1981 he had begun creating his first portfolios.
Quickly developing his own distinctive style of black and white photography giles began to successfully sell his black and white photographs to craft shops around Ireland. to support this demand he rented darkroom space in kinsale, where a small window to the street drew a steady stream of visitors. This welcome intrusion convinced him to open his first black and white photography gallery.
By selling work from his earliest portfolios of kinsale, dublin, kerry and west cork, the gallery became successful and gained giles recognition as one of Ireland’s leading black and white photographers although I have choosen not to put in any black and white images into my Final peices I really like Black and whit images and have included quite a few along the way,
 Another being Ed Collacott
Ed Collacott has a passion for taking photographs and his work features the finest landscapes in the UK. Aided by a background in Geography and Geology, Ed appreciates the natural and human processes that have shaped our environment. The patterns, textures and natural forms that reflect nature's rhythms are a continual source of inspiration.
I am pleased with my final piece and have enjoyed the course and really love landscapes but it is such a big wide world out there with millions  and millions of images to take and master, and I will continue to see where the path will lead me as I have experimented with different subjects and have a few favorites.

Fantasy Landscapes

Fantasy Landscapes.

Part of the course is to Manipulate four Pictures around the theme of Fantasy Landscapes.
The manipulation of the images was to be done on Photoshop and the images  had to have a Theme.
I had photographed various landscapes and was inspired by two photographers whilst completing this task, one was Di Liu as I love the way Di Liu, a 25-year-old Chinese photographer, worked on the difficult relationship between nature and human society, the consequences of the galloping urbanization in China today, which infact echos around the world. The second being Giles Norman, The photographer is inspired by the very landscape where he lives and I can't think of anything better than to everyday see more and more of what is around you.
I started with very little in the idea section and it took a while but once I saw Di liu's images I thought I would used a similar idea in my own work, the concept of Animals domineering the particular landscape where the photograph was captured was very appealling. As my Idea developed and I became more confident in using photoshop, I began to add more images within the Landscape picture as well as the domineering animal.
I have firstly taken a landscape image then added an oversized animal to it. The equipment that I used was my camera a Cannon 1000D, Tripod, Memory card that I always ensured was clear or had pleanty of space on it and the computer using either Photo shop or Picassa to edit and Manipulate the images.
I encounterd pleanty of challenges whilst using photoshop as I had never used it before and I also struggled firstly to use the Apple Mac at college but it's all about what you get used to. The more I used Photoshop and the Mac the more confident I became and Started to enjoy using Photoshop however you do need to plan lots of time into using photo shop because it can become quite addictive.
Below are my final four manipulated images which  I am pleased with and enjoy looking at and I hope that viewers will enjoy them too, the Animals may one day claim there landscape back!
Enjoy!!

Foremark Walk.

Foremark Walk.

The weather was bright and crisp, just the weather I enjoy whilst out walking, so I decided that we would journey to Foremark to take some shots around the reservoir.
It was cold so I wrapped up warm and wore suitable footwear, I also ensured that I had my camera which was fully charged and that I had pleanty of room on the Memory card.
I wanted to take some water shots and also some possible dusk sunset shots so I needed to take my tripod as I knew that I would have to slow the shutter speed right down and using a tripod would avoid camera shake.

Whitby

I was desparate to get some sea shots so I booked myself onto a day coach trip to Whitby.
I ensured my Memory card was empty and that my battery was fully charged. I had my Tripod ready to take with me on the bus. I had looked at the weather forcast which had given a dry but cold windy day and I was going dressed for the occasion.
Everything ready in my bag I set off. I was a bit worried about the type of shots I wanted to plan and had previously looked on the torist website to familiarise myself with the surroundings to save time but when I got there I just decided to look around and to let my eyes decide what I wanted to capture. I had some plans for shots in cirtain areas but it was very windy indeed.I enjoyed taking dusk an evening pictures but need more practice to get completly clear pictures.
