Iso and shutter speeds.

Third week into city and guilds photography  and the mission tonight was to capture some images using fast and slow shutter speeds.
Here are a few that I have taken this evening and then by using photo shop I altered the images.

This photo i took using a slow shutter speed.
This is the same photo that I changed to black and white in photo shop.
I have altered the  photo here by adjusting the contrast, this brightened the photo, and added colour to red brick buildings on the street.
These photos are on a fast shutter speed.
This is the original photo without adjustments.
I have adjusted the photo in photo shop with contrast and brightness.
This is the photo that i changed to black and white in photo shop.

Light Task.

The task was to photograph an object at four different times of day. I did start by taking them in my garden but this didnt work, I had to think bigger, so I ended up on the washlands in Burton in the morning, at lunch time, at Tea time and then in the evening and this is how they turned out.

I also took four pictures of the Water Tower and these are how they turned out.

Light has played a huge part in how these pictures look.

Practice.

These pictures are of one of my orchids, i have been practising apertures.

These are another couple i took in the garden.

I am very proud of myself for taking these as this is one insect normally i would run away from but it just looked to good to be missed.

Second Week!!

Well, first time out with the camera this evening and i'm trying to get the hang of apertures.
The task was to go out and take pictures with the iso on 400 and have the camera on AV.
I was not impressed with the photos I took and really needed explanations as to why they were so rubbish!
so back to class and Marie explained that we could change the iso to compensate the camera shake and blur.
I now need to remember the aperture number, to the depth of field! so it's back to the drawing board for now and alot of practice in the week.
I have put up some images to reflect on.

These have been taken around the market place in Burton and are the better ones from the group of photos that I took.

These photos are blurred, I think this is due to light, not having the correct iso and my depth of field was wrong.

Something New!!

First night on city and guilds photography course, some choices to make as to which subject to choose!! Could be tricky in narrowing it down and but so far learning how to blog so I am already learning. Lots of things to remember but if I can learn face book I can learn this.
